What is it with youth ministry and the intense pull to eat foods that clog arteries, slow down our movements (yes, both kinds of movement) and generally bring a smile to our face when we first see/smell the food, but end up with a confused/motivationless daze on our face after we have eaten it? You know what I’m talking about. The last minute run to the grocery store before the teenagers show up at your door, which involves a massive sweeping of the aisles containing cookies, pizza, spray cheese, gushers (please tell me you remember these morsels of juicy deliciousness), flavored corn syrup and Munchies (the perfect fusion of all that is right in the world of fried corn). I think one of my arteries just clogged as I typed that list. (from YS blog)
When I saw this post over at the Youth Specialties blog, I naturally assumed I had started a trend of rethinking about junk food and youth ministry. Perhaps not, but I had to keep stirring the pot. Head over, read it, and add to the comments. Feel free to chime in on my original post as well.
