the r-word

I wrote in my post grammar snob a few weeks ago that I absolutely cannot stand hearing the “R word” used in a derogatory manner. Turns out I almost missed a campaign to promote awareness of this movement on 03.03.10 at I encourage you to check it out, take the pledge, and work hard to excise this word from your vocabulary. That applies even when nobody else is there to listen… except God. I continue to find myself saying “this is so dumb” and the like. Habits are so hard to break! Hold me accountable if you hear me doing it, please!

I pledge and support the elimination of the derogatory use of the r-word from everyday speech and promote the acceptance and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.
